This week’s share (August 23rd):
Onions: A mix of sweet and yellow storage.
Salad Mix: I’ve been enjoying so many summer salads.
Zucchini: Still coming.
Basil: A new succession that has just come on. I can’t get enough of making pesto to go with almost everything.
Beans: You’ll be receiving these until they are done. We have been picking over 300 pounds every couple of days. We have 2 people dedicated just to picking beans 3 times a week. Uff!
Cabbage: Still coming out of the field….but I think this is the last of it.
Garlic: Great time to start storing some for the winter.
Cucumbers: The slicing cucumbers are here. Enjoy!
Tomatoes: A mix of heirlooms and slicers.
Beets: Beet salad anyone?

Farm Update for the Week
Harvesting has taken over our lives! It is pretty much all we do around here on the farm. Tomatoes, beans, cucumbers…all take so much time to pick! We really are moving into the abundant time on the farm, even with this strange weather. Eggplants and peppers just aren’t ripening with all these cold nights. We have pretty good fruit set on all the peppers, but the colors just won’t shift. And eggplants are just sitting there not really doing anything. What a funky weather year, but what else is new in farming? In other news, we finally made the leap and bought a box truck. This was a sorely needed asset purchase and we are so glad we made the plunge! Our old farm truck was breaking down almost weekly and we could barely fit any of the produce boxes for market and deliveries into the truck. The new truck is reliable and has so much space for all the vegetables coming out of the ground. It really has revolutionized everything around here. We’re finishing up on most of our fall and winter planting in the next week or so and then we’ll see the last round of greens to go in the hoophouse for the winter CSA shares. With the cold nights and mornings, it really does feel like fall is just around the corner. Enjoy the vegetables this week!
